Enough of the Rain, Already!

Kangaeroo is on holiday.

Has been for 37 hours now.

And it has rained almost that entire time.

And due to continue falling for almost the next 24 hours, too.

Ah, well…not much that can be done about it.

  • Brushing Up On Kangaroo Paw-nography

    Caught up with work, study, travel, health checks and poor weather over the past few days, it was a delight to get back into the garden this morning to find that we were blessed with the season’s first bottlebrush and kangaroo paw flowers. Cooler temperatures have caused a delay in blooms compared to previous years, so the slow progress of the plants in the garden have had me worried. We’ve got lots of kangaroo paw plants, but none had started flowering until this morning, which was a disappointment as I had grown them from seed and wanted them to flourish considering the kangaroo connection.     Despite the icy midwinter temperature, Tokyo was gloriously sunny today. Regardless of the day, I try to walk as much as possible. Today’s reward was getting to see a gorgeous model having her photo taken!

    June continues rolling on and the rainy season has yet to appear, which is an immediate blessing yet also a warning, but for the time being the kangaroo paw are leading the way in bringing me unimaginable delight. The rainy season can be pretty bleak with day after day after precipitation. I also find the low pressure systems that dominate the weather have a tendency to drag me down.   • Yakuza Battle! 多摩川での仁義なき戦い！

    My normal morning ride was rudely interrupted today when I had to stop at a set of traffic lights I usually only use for reference because there were dozens of cops loitering there. Japanese authorities have a tendency to over-react, so even though there were at least 30 officers, several patrol cars, an ambulance, paramedics and firefighters hanging around the Hino Bridge area, I didn’t think too much of it. I did think it a little strange that the bike path was roped off and cops mounting guard and patrolling on foot. It was only after discovering news on Facebook that I had witnessed the aftermath of a vicious battle…
