  • やばいリンガル：Shithouse

    ストラインでは「shithouse」が質が悪いや結果が芳しくないと意味しています。直訳すると「糞の家」という意味になり、外便所に使われている「Outhouse」と「Dunny」と関連性がありながら微妙に意味が違う。 Shithouse is Strine for poor quality, or unenjoyable. It literally means “house of shit.” Though closely associated with outhouse and dunny, which are words to describe outside toilets, the meaning of shithouse is slightly more nuanced.   • やばいリンガル：Westie

    A westie, at least the version in Strine, is a bogan from the western suburbs of Sydney. A bogan, of course, is a person whose speech, mannerisms, appearance, clothing, behaviour, or attitudes are considered unrefined or unsophisticated.     Cheeky has a few meanings in Strine, as outlined in the table below.     Alky is the Strine term used to describe an alcoholic. Back in the olden days, this would have been quite an acceptable term, but nowadays, someone with an alcohol dependence would probably be described as having substance abuse disorder.     絶対言うな！ Abo is an archaic and derogatory word for indigenous Australians, deriving from the equally obsolete aboriginal. This is a deeply offensive word and shouldn’t be used, but it is.     オージー英語は危険になる場合がある。たとえば、オーストラリアでは話が長くてくどいだと「verbal diarrheaをやめろ」と言われる可能性がある。直訳すればなんと「口頭下痢」という意味になりますが、本当の意味は「話が長すぎ」なのだ。 Speakin’ Strine can sometimes be dangerous, particularly if a spoken message is taken the wrong way.     オーストラリア最大恐竜がエロマンガに

    　オーストラリアの最大恐竜がエロマンガにあった。 　本当。 　下品なことを考えってんじゃねぇよ！エロマンガはオーストラリア先住民の言葉で「風がよく吹く平野」という意味だそう。 　エロマンガは、北部クイーンズランド州にある小さな村です。石油とオパール鉱業が中心となっている人口約40人の村である。 　1990年代までエロマンガ有名なことはオーストラリア内で海から最も遠く離れている町ということだった。（今でもそうと主張しているが、そうじゃないという人もいます。） 　いずれにせよ、クイーンズランド州都ブリスベーンから約1,000キロ西の方に置かれている。 　1994年にチャリ乗りの少年が化石を見つけて、以降次から次へ恐竜の化石が発見された。 　2007年にみつかった化石が今までオーストラリアで最も大きいな恐竜のものだった。 　その恐竜がティタノザウルス類の一種であり、エロマンんがの恐竜がクーパーと名付けられた。 　しかし、名前は名前なので、当然にエロマンガという村が日本に注目を浴びた。 　数多くの日本のエロ漫画や普通の漫画もエロマンガの話が出ています。 　その中は「ニニンがシノブ伝」、「サムライフラメンコ」というまでもなくオーストラリアで児童ポルノとして禁じられている「エロマンガ先生」がある。 　今、エロマンガに恐竜研究が励んでいる。 　2017年に開館したエロマンガ自然博物館が運営しているが、コロナ禍で苦しんでいるだろう。 　それでも、間違いなくエロマンガがオーストラリア恐竜研究・跡地の最前線にひとつということはまちがいない。 　これからもエロマンガにますます期待できるだろう。

    Hungover Australian PM Lauds Australia-Japan Relations

    オーストラリア総理大臣トニーアボットが豪訪問中の日本首相安倍晋三氏と晩餐会を行い、翌朝豪テレビ番組に出演し、二日酔いでからかわれることになった。 Australia’s perennially embarrassing British-born Prime Minister Tony Abbott turns up for a TV interview fairly hung over after a night on the booze with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. アボット首相がかなり飲んだことを認めた。「責任を持った飲み方だった」というが、目がかなりやられているので、飲み方が責任を持って行ったかもしれないが全国放送で二日酔いに出演し、冗談を言うのはどうかなと思う。 If nothing else, at least the two countries seem to have decent relations. ま、両国仲良しを喜ぶべきだろう。
