Although the harsher than normal seasons this year have made it tough for our garden, our consistently strong grevillea has survived and thrived.

Japan-Australia Friendship Festival Fires Up Steaming Summer

Our grueling summer got a shot in the arm from a Japan-Australia friendship festival held in Tokyo’s Ueno Park, but we’re too busy to do a detailed update. Summer is typically busy, as it is every year, but instead of relying almost solely on outsourcers, we are doing more of the work as our business is clearly slowing down.

Big Red Bike Tour Stage 5: Beating Around The Bush

Considering the Big Red is made to go pretty much anywhere, I shouldn’t have been beating around the bush about going off road. But I have: until today, when we hit the dirt. I can’t go far from home as I need to look after Dino the rosy faced lovebird. But that was fine as my regular route along the Tama River also has many off-road tracks. I can’t say the idea of rough riding is enticing, but I figured I’d give it a try today. • Wistful Wisteria

There’ve been better times than the past week, and hopefully the climbing hardenbergia comptoniana planted today augurs a rise out of the doldrums. Work absolutely slaughtered me this week, imposing another huge wage cut that…

  • The (Ballsed-Up) Big Red Bike Tour

Had things been different, right around this time I would have been getting ready to go off on an exciting bicycling adventure that I’d named the Big Red Bike Tour. But the trip is off, or at least changed into a different, much-truncated version. Having fortunately fallen into buying an aesthetically delightful bicycle of such an azure hue it could only be given the name Big Red, I was keen on taking advantage of its comfortable riding sensation and ability to go anywhere to head out on a tour. Keeping up the Big Red theme, I promptly went out and ordered a blue Kangaeroo kit (replete with thought bubble to…
