Beware The Creatures Of The Night

Much to the chagrin or Mrs. Kangaeroo, our garden is filled with all sorts of weird and wonderful Australian creatures, and they’re designed to look nice nocturnally.

We have all sorts of kangaroos.

Their sizes range from life-sized to tiny.

A similar story goes for koalas.

We have a koala couple.

And another pair climbing one of our wattles.

And there is even a learned fellow who reads a book.

Considering we are supposed to be a kangaroo-themed garden, you could possibly say we are a bit over koala-fied.

Aside from the marsupials, we’ve also got a wombat, and a couple of monotremes.

We have both an echidna and a platypus, examples of the only egg-laying mammals in the world.

Not far from the platypuses water-based environment is the Fountain of Strewth, which is filled with deadly crocodiles.

And speaking of eggs, we also have a huge egg, which looks like it could have come from an emu, even though it’s white.

It actually comes from an ostrich but we leave it there to be on brand for both Japan, where sometimes things can get a little bit lost in translation, and Australia, where near enough is always bloody good enough.

We have more than just the huge birds making a presence.

We have cockatoos, a kookaburra, varied lorikeet, some black swans, and even a galah.

We would have had another jacky (kookaburra), but I broke her on the way home from Australia, so she is an ornament inside the house.

All of our delightful creatures are lit up almost nightly by an array of solar-powered lights.

This time of the year illuminates the garden better than most other times.

Our days are longer and brighter.
