Icy Roads Raise Prospects Of An Icy Reception

Thanks to being as blind as a bat and leaving home in the dark, I didn’t realize how stupid I was until it was too late to do anything about it. And that ran the risks of some midwinter iciness.

We had snow overnight, but I didn’t notice it, nor the icy roads, until I was already on my bike. Even when I was confident of my cycling skills, I never cycled on icy roads. Now, while terrified every time I get in the saddle, I was horrified to find myself rolling slowly through thee crunching ice.

I was petrified by the thought that I may let down Mrs. Kangaeroo. We are due to spend the day with her family. It’s a hugely important time for her. I have a record of throwing spanners in the works at times when Mrs. Kangaeroo is looking for smoothness, with my recent broken leg occurring immediately before we had a planned series of activities being a case in point.

I rode only a short time and ith the maximum possible caution…but with plenty of astonishment, too, as I saw how much snow and ice was around.

Mrs. Kangaeroo has, and does, sacrificed so much to improve my life, I can never repay it. The fear of possibly ruining her day was a great driver for riding safely, but it also took a bit of the pleasure out of the ride.
