    豪マクドナルドがレストラン名をオージー英語使用に

    　オーストラリアの英国植民地化を記念とする１月26日が同国で「オーストラリアの日」という祝日となり、それに伴って豪マクドナルドが一部のレストラン名称を豪スラング名を一時的に使用することになったとマクドナルド・オーストラリア社が1月に発表した。 　オージー英語（ストライン）では、マクドナルドが「Maccas＜マッカーズ＞」という。 　おそらく、それの方がよく使われている名称である。 　同社は遊び心を込めて今年のオーストラリアの日に伴って一部のレストランの名称を変更し、店の看板を変えたりなど、様々な方向として2月上旬までマクドナルドではなくMaccasと呼ぶ。 Macca’s – an Australian-made nickname up in lights for our national day 追伸：共同通信が以下のように報道した。 マクドナルドが「マッカズ」に　豪で地元愛称が看板に2013.1.23 08:58 　日本では「マック」や「マクド」と呼ばれることの多いファストフード大手マクドナルド。オーストラリアでは「マッカズ」の愛称で親しまれており、同社は２３日までに、キャンペーンの一環として、国内の一部店舗の看板をマッカズと表示された特別仕様に取り換えた。 　２６日の建国記念日「オーストラリア・デー」に向けた期間限定の“改名”だが、マクドナルドが看板表示を愛称に変えるのは世界初という。 　地元住民を対象とした調査で、半数の人がマッカズと呼んでいることが判明。オーストラリア特有の愛称といい、同社は「地元社会の一員になれたことへの誇りを示したい」としている。取り換え対象は１３店舗で、２月上旬に元に戻す。 　同社はまた、オーストラリア英語の権威として知られる地元の辞書に「マッカズ」を追加するよう申請している。
