  • 豪砂漠の恐怖な「火の竜巻」

    　オーストラリア、ノーザンテリトリー州のアリス・スプリングズ近くに同町テレビ局が17日に起きた「火の竜巻」の劇的な映像を撮られた。 　「火の竜巻」という現象は滅多に起きなく、起きるときでも長くて数分間と言われているが、撮影したクリス・タンギー氏が約40分続けたという。 　同氏がテレビ用のイメージ映像のロケハンティング中だったが、いきなり「火の竜巻」が上がったきた。 　「人生一度のチャンスではなく、人生10回生きても１回あるかどうかようなことだった」という。 Caught on camera: The 30 metre high tornado of FIRE that whirled around Australian outback for terrifying 40 minutes

  • 野生カンガルーがメルボルン空港で捕まえれた

    　オーストラリアで野生カンガルーを見るのは決して珍しくないが、流石に空港内では異例だ！ 　10月２２日午前中、野生カンガルーがオーストラリアメルボルン市空港内の駐車場で走り回っている姿が見られた、とある人が警察に通報した。 　警官が駆けつけてところ、同航空の駐車場５階にカンガルーを見つけた。 　 カンガルーを鎮痛剤で撃たれ、鎮痛させられた。 無事だった。 　カンガルーは、健康状態を調査した上で放される、とメルボル市の広報が言う。 　ちなみに、野生カンガルーがメルボルン空港で捕まえられたのは２回目。 ８月にも同様な時間があった。 メルボルン空港野生カンガルー事件ギャラリー 　この動画が示すように、怖くて、逃げようとする野性カンガルーが本当に恐怖だ。 Roo turns airport into Hopper’s crossing

    Boomerang Shrine And Shooting The Rapids

    Mrs. Kangaeroo and I got another wonderful experience shooting down the rapids in the delightful Saitama Prefecture town of Nagatoro, which is also home to a shrine hoping to draw people back with something of an Aussie touch. Boomerang Kaeru Shrine, just outside Nagatoro Station, is dedicated to the worship of frogs, but is actually a play on words. The Japanese for frog is kaeru (蛙), but also a homonym for returning home (帰る), hence the boomerang, which (allegedly) returns to the thrower upon being hurled. (This is a story for another day). Also got to find some Engrish that appealed to my eternal schoolboy side.
