オージー英語は危険になる場合がある。たとえば、オーストラリアでは話が長くてくどいだと「verbal diarrheaをやめろ」と言われる可能性がある。直訳すればなんと「口頭下痢」という意味になりますが、本当の意味は「話が長すぎ」なのだ。

Also referred to as “speaking shit,” verbal diarrhea is simply a different way to say that someone is talking for too long, or that they’re waffling on.

    　普通、米・英語ではlurkにはちょっと暗いイメージがあるが、オージー英語ではそれに加えてもっと軽い感じの意味もある。クリックすれば、どのように違うかが分かるよ。 　To lurk implies something dark when normally used in English, but when it comes to Strine, being on a good lurk in Australia is not such a bad deal.

    A westie, at least the version in Strine, is a bogan from the western suburbs of Sydney. A bogan, of course, is a person whose speech, mannerisms, appearance, clothing, behaviour, or attitudes are considered unrefined or unsophisticated.
