Beautiful Bloomers And A Bevy Of Budding Beauties

I’m amazed at how much joy our garden brings me when I get to see it upon waking every morning. That is especially so at this time of the year as the flowering plants take their turns to flourish and add some brilliant blooms to the verdant surroundings.

Our grevilleas are the big stars at the moment, with their delightful, spider-like flowers.

Other trees are not too far away from showing their more flamboyant side, either. The callistemon, lemon myrtle and, if we’re really lucky, one of the banksia also appear poised to bloom. And the bush rosemary still looks glorious after flowering for weeks.

Big Chook

  • A Pheasant Makes Things Pleasant

Late May is nearly always an idyllic time with the glorious weather hiding the impending onset of the rainy season. This morning’s ride was made even pleasanter by getting to spend time looking at a glorious Japanese green pheasant reigning over its territory near the Asakawa River. Pretty much every weekday (when the weather is halfway decent), I get to ride my bike, mostly along the Tama River, and I love it. Returning home today was a delight, though as the grevillea are in full bloom. A row of the gorgeous flowers is simply breathtaking. Only one of the three grevillea in Kangaeroo Corner is blooming. One of the others…

Stoned wallabies make crop circles

  • Hopes Raised, Then Razed

Today has been another roller-coaster ride for my emotions, having started on a high and now falling into a deep trough. I’ve been keen for today for a few reasons, but mostly because on late Friday night I received an email asking me to apply for a job being offered with the prospect of long-term employment. I’ve been searching fruitlessly searching for a new job for years, and the offer seemed to be work within my capacity. But a closer look at the job description suggested that perhaps my abilities wouldn’t hold up, and then when it came to discussing the position, I found out that the “long-term employment” was…
