砂漠の真ん中の大きなBig Park Bench
100数十件もあるオーストラリア「Big Things」のほとんどが観光及び何らかのＰＲ役割で作られたが、このBig Park Benchは違う。
近くに住む三人の学校の先生が興味で普通の公園用のベンチをそのままの寸法を2.5倍にして作っただけだ。しかし、2002年にあった「風景と背景展示」に出展できた。
この「Big Things」のユニークなところが作られている風景を全部ビデオに撮られて、下記の動画が出来た。

豪州ブランド車ホールデンが廃止へ
オーストラリアの最も有名な車ブランドであったホールデンが2020年いっぱいで廃止となることは親会社であるジェネラルモーターズ社の17日発表で分かった。 1908年に始まったオーストラリア国内製造が2017年に終わったが以降シボレー車が輸入されてホールデンブランドで販売された。 しかし、販売数が伸び悩み、結局GMがホールデンブランドを廃止することを断行した。 一時、オーストラリア製造業の象徴であったホールデン車が事実上存在しなくなる。 販売終了後、約10年間メンテナンスのために200人程度を雇用する予定はしている、とGMがいう。
