g’day Australian English G’day is the typical Australian greeting, used at any time of the day or night upon meeting another person. It is arguably the most famous example of Australian English. カンガルーはオーストラリアそのもののシンボルでありながら考えRoo.comの象徴でもあるため、今回の「Big Things」は南オーストラリア州のビッグ・カンガルーを紹介したいと思う。 ビッグ・カンガルーは南オーストラリア州と西オーストラリア州の境界村であるボーダー・ビレッジに設置され、高さ5メートルもあり缶を片手に持っている。オーストラリアが1987年にアメリカス・カップのヨット・レースを開催する前にボーダーの町おこしの一環として1986年に作られた。 珍しく、ビッグ・カンガルーもニックネームがあり、ルーイ２世だという。ルーイ１世は、元々手に持った缶がビール缶だったため、村に対して与える印象が酔っ払いと近すぎるじゃないか、という恐れがあった。そのため、作り変えてジュースの缶に変えたとともに新しい名前も与えられた。 大きな地図で見る

Someone stole my Astuto bike and I’m feeling pretty lousy about it. The bike was special because a lot of people showed me kindness and generousity so I could build it up from scratch. I should have kept her inside the house, but we simply don’t have the room. Up And Away Over The Clouds On A Brompton
My Brompton folding bike has proved to be more of a handful than I’d hoped with its unique parts costing a lot to maintain, but it is also lifting me to new heights in cycling, literally this month as I rode the Norikura skyline. 豪首都の（ちょっとがっかりする、、、）巨大キノコ
オーストラリアの首都でありながら、キャンベラが行政を中心となっている人工都市であり、人口が３０万人強で決して大都会と言い難い。 他の州などに比べてキャンベラが置かれているオーストラリア首都特別地域（ＡＣＴ）でも小さく、人口密度も低いから比較的にオージーらしい「Big Things」が少ない、、、というか、一つしかない。それはキャンベラのBig Mushroomである！ じゃ、量より質という観点から見れば首都を代表する「Big Things」は間違いなく立派なものだろう、、、とも言い難いね。 あの、実はビッグ・マッシュルームが８メートルの幅があり、高さ５メートルもあるので、大きいと言えば大きいだが、キノコの下に子供の遊び場となっているので、ちょっと圧迫感を与えるかもしれないので、他の「Big Things」ほど目立たない。でも、キャンベラの一角の買い物楽園であるベルコネン・フレッシュ・フード・まーケーツの象徴となっているし、１９９８年開設した当時ＡＣＴ知事が公式に開設したということである意味魅力あると言える。 Belconnen Fresh Food Markets View Larger Map
