ビッグ・ロブスターはビッグミスで3倍大きくなちゃった
グラス繊維で作られているロブスターは高さ17メートル、長さ15.2メートルと幅13.7メートルで巨大であるが、元々のデザインが「メートル」じゃなくて「フィート」だったため最小に想定した大きさの約３倍となった。
作られた当時はレストラン、お土産と小さな映画館があったが、数年前のリフォームによりレストランとワイン・テースティングが行う。
キングストンにある理由はロブスターが同町の名物なのだ。

砂漠のド真ん中の不思議なさいころ、Big Dice
オーストラリア全国の百数十ヶ所にある「Big Things」の中、ほとんどのオブジェなどがなんとなく所在地と関連付ける理由があるが、南オーストラリア州の砂漠町ユンタとマナヒルの間にある巨大さいころBig Diceは、その気配でさえ全く無い。 さいころなら、カジノやゲームなどが近くにあっても不思議ではないが、実際になにもない。想像がつかないほどものが無い。ただ、砂漠の中、人口約100人ぐらいしかない二つの町の間に置かれているだけだ。看板もないし、周りに何も無く、コンクリート製さいころ６個が三角形で積み重ねているだけだ。Ｂ級アトラクション中のＢ級だ。 さいころがバリア・ハイウェイという道添えにある。バリア・ハイウェイが同州とニューサウスウェールズ州の砂漠地帯を繋がる道路であり、人口密度が極めて低いところだ。その中で観光スポットを作ろうと思った人がいるのはなかなか理解できないが、同道路を通る人のほとんどが止まって見に行くらしい。 大きな地図で見る
洗濯用たらいと車のマフラーで創られたBig Spiderが田舎町アート原点
独特な「Big Things」がオーストラリアの小さな町をちょっとしたアート空間に変身させようとしている。しかし、「Big Things」らしいかもしれないが、今の所反応がいまひとつ。 ニューサウスウェールズ州東南部にある人口336人のウラナはほとんど農園や牧場しかないが、2009年にウラナのとある給水塔に彫刻家アンドレー・ホワイトサイド氏がBig Spiderを設置した。 Big Spiderは、重さ約120キロがあり、洗濯用たらいと車のマフラーで創られた。ウラナのパブリック・アート第1作品だった。出来上がった当時、町全体の公の場でオブジェや作品を設置しようという動きの原点となるはずだった。 しかし、3年間経って今ではまだこの「Big Things」のみ。その他のプロジェクトが呼びかけがあっても下の動画が示すようにあまり進行していない。 大きな地図で見る The Big Redback: 豪文化象徴である「便座の背赤グモ」のBig Things版

オーストラリアではオージー英語らしくいうと、littliesがschooliesになる前にkindieに通う子供が多い。要するに、小さい子供たちが小学校に入学する前に幼稚園（kindergarten）に通う。ということはkindieの意味が簡単にわかるだろう？そうだ、、、その通り。Kindieはkindergartenの省略、オージー英語らしく省略言葉だ。ちなみに、厳密に言えばschooliesは高校を課程終了後・卒業する前の間に行う大規模なパーティであり、各地で行い近年では大きな観光ビジネスにもなっている。
