Big Red Bike Tour Stage 10: Washout!

Raindrops and more kept falling on my head and everywhere else today, putting paid to Stage 10 of the Big Red Bike Tour, which became a washout.

Admittedly, I didn’t have anything planned and was just going to let things go as they flowed.

And flow they did, thanks to the long-awaited rains.

But heavy rains from Tropical Storm Peipah gifted me with a day of rest and slow time to spend with Dino, our rosy faced lovebird.

And that wasn’t the only gift the precipitation presented as the garden delighted in being drenched following weeks of searing temperatures and virtually no rainfall.

The plants and soil were basking in the wet and I carried most of our potplants out into the open so they could benefit from the rain, too.

I’ve watered the garden at least twice daily across the summer, but tap water is no comparison for rainfall, so I’m glad the plants are getting a good soaking at last.

I hope there’s also a filip ahead for Dino, who has headed off with Mrs. Kangaeroo to the Yokohama Bird Clinic. Our little pterror hates the ruffle she wears to prevent her from pecking her infected bum, which prevents her from pooping, and now appears to have stopped her from willingly eating and drinking. It is excriciatingly painful to watch the once active Dino languishing. I return to work next week and can spend little time caring for her, let alone take her on the hospital commute.

Of course, when we get Dino to the vet she shows more animation than she has all week.
