タスマニア北部のLatrobeは、「Platypus Capital of the World」と呼ばれる町です。そのLatrobeのBells Paradeには、巨大なカモノハシ、The Big Platypusがあります。
このBig Thingの面白さは、巨大な像だけではありません。Bells ParadeはMersey River沿いにあり、近くのPig IslandやWarrawee Forest Reserveは、本物のカモノハシを探すことができる場所です。つまりLatrobeでは、「巨大なカモノハシを見てから、本物のカモノハシを探す」という楽しみ方ができます。

Big Thingsを見に行って、本物まで見られる。これはかなり贅沢なBig Thingです。ただし、本物のカモノハシは巨大ではありません。そして、とても恥ずかしがり屋です。
