A native or resident of the state of Western Australia. A West Australian. A Westralian. The name comes from an insect that lives in the state, but has become the nickname of Western Australia’s inhabitants. Western Australia has a greater land area than any other state in Australia, but much of it is desert and the nickname probably also derives from this fact.

    Spunkは、厳密に言えば独特なオージー英語ではないが、「ルックスがいい」と言う使い方はオーストラリア・ニュージーランドなど豪語が使われている英語圏以外はない。英語全体では、spunkが「活気」とか「粋がある」ようなニュアンスがある。しかし、オージー英語ではこの意味に加えて美女か美男に対して形容詞としても使う。語呂合わせとして、美女か美男に対して「hunk a spunk」と言う言い方があり「とってもルックスがいい」という意味、hunk=美男が由来である。

    Many foreigners guffaw at the frequent mangling of English that some Japanese can achieve and there’re plenty of websites and the like dedicated to highlighting these flaws, but they should note that this can go both ways.     CNN reported globally that a 7-year-old boy lost overnight in a forest near the South Australian capital of Adelaide was saved by a kangaroo.
