　今回のメッセージがちょっとNaughtyなので、、、
　　Mateは、典型的なオージー英語言葉の一つだ。本来「友達」という意味であり、オージー間では友達だけなく誰に対しても使うけど、他の国で使う場合、ちょっと顔が赤くなるような意味もあることを、くれぐれも忘れちゃいけない。
Mate is a word symbolic with Strine and the word that traditionally means “friend” is used frequently in Aussie English, even among those who aren’t particularly close to the speaker. Mind you, it’s important to remember that mate can also have other meanings that could leave you red-faced if used in the wrong context.

    　日本語では「大人」という言葉に対し「子供」を「小人」という風に表現してもおかしくない。オージー英語でも、まさしくそのような使い方があり、littliesは子供、ようは「小さい人たち」という表現の仕方がある。ちなみに、「小人」はdwarfかmidgetという言葉を昔使ったがいずれも現在では侮蔑にあたるのでlittle peopleという表現が正しいとされているが、彼らは決して子供ではない。
