　オーストラリアはスポーツ大国に間違いない。sportも典型的なオージー英語として使われる言葉だが、他の英語圏での意味と全く違う。どのように違うか見てみよう。

Australia is undoubtedly a sporting power, but sport in Strine, or Australian English, has a completely different meaning compared to when the word is used in other forms of English. Read on to find out how.

    　昨夜、スイスのチューリッヒにて、オーストラリアも日本も2022年FIFAサッカーワールドカップ招致の最終提案を行ったが、どちらがいいかな。オーストラリアと日本以外では韓国、米国、カタールも表明している。どの国が勝ち取っても素晴らしい大会を開催してくれると思うが、誘致ビデオの内容がもう少しサッカー自体に集中しても良かったなと思う。皆さんはどう思いますか? 開催地決定は、明日早朝（日本時間）に行われます。 　参考までに、オーストラリアと日本の誘致ビデオは下記にあります。

    豪キャブラリー： Carn

    CarnはKhanとまったく同じ発音。Genghis KhanやKublai Khanなどの歴史的に重要人物のKhanは深い意味がある言葉。由来がローマ帝国「シーザー」が由来であり、重みをそれなりに感じる。しかし、オージー英語のCarnは、それとはまったく違って、Come onの砕けた言い方にしか過ぎない、、、 　スポーツチームを応援する時「Carn the Aussies!」などのように叫ぶが定番の応援型だ。
