    Commo is Strine for communist, either a person, the ideology, or an adjective. It reflects the Strine tendency to use the diminutive form. Commie is also used. Commo はストラインで“共産主義者”を指す言葉で、人そのもの、思想、あるいは形容詞としても使われます。ストライン特有の縮小形（短縮形）を好む傾向を反映した表現で、commie という形も使われます。

    オーストラリアではオージー英語らしくいうと、littliesがschooliesになる前にkindieに通う子供が多い。要するに、小さい子供たちが小学校に入学する前に幼稚園（kindergarten）に通う。ということはkindieの意味が簡単にわかるだろう？そうだ、、、その通り。Kindieはkindergartenの省略、オージー英語らしく省略言葉だ。ちなみに、厳密に言えばschooliesは高校を課程終了後・卒業する前の間に行う大規模なパーティであり、各地で行い近年では大きな観光ビジネスにもなっている。

    　インターネットの普及前にはおそらくtellyが世界最大の通信媒体となっていただろう。人々が行けない世界を茶の間に持ってきてくれたものだった。もちろん、tellyがtelevisionの省略だ。厳密に言えば、tellyは独特なオージー英語ではなく、イギリス英語であり、北米以外の英語圏ではよく使われている。 　 　ちなみに、教育などを助長しながらも、レベルが低い番組も多く、テレビは俗語でidiot box（おバカ箱という意味）とも呼ばれている。
