    Strine doesn’t really give itself over to hyperbole, which perhaps explains how a term can arise like “happy as Larry.” This Australian English saying simply means to be overjoyed, happy or completely satisfied. Though there are plenty of unfounded theories, precisely who or what the Larry referred to is a complete mystery. 　ストライン（オージー英語）って、大げさな言い回しはあまりしないんだけど、そのわりに happy as Larry なんて表現が生まれたのは面白い。意味は「めちゃくちゃ幸せ」「ご機嫌」「大満足」くらいのこと。いろんな説があるものの、この「ラリー」が誰なのか、何なのかは実はまったくの謎なんだ。
