多くの人にとってchewieと言えばスターウォーズに登場する毛深いウッキーが思い浮かぶかもしれないが、オージー英語ではchewieはお口直しとしてよく使われているので、ちょっとびっくりするかもしれない。しかし、驚くことはない。オージー英語らしくまた省略言葉でありchewing gumのことだ。Chewiesは言うまでもなく複数形だ。

Brick shithouseは、厳密に言えば「レンガで作られているトイレ」を示すが、実際にがっしりとした体格の持ち主に対して言う言葉だ。 由来は、レンガ性のビルがしっかりしていると同じようにbrick shithouse体格の持ち主がしっかりそうだ。
