A kangaroo in a space suit saves the world in the most amazing Chinese movie, which I have just learned about.

King Kong Roo is one of the heroes in Moon Man, the delightfully hilarious 2022 movie about Yue, a guy stranded on the moon with humanity apparently obliterated by an asteroid shower slamming into the planet.

King Kong Roo is a kangaroo that had been left in a moon base research lab. He forms an unlikely friendship with Yue and they strive to return to the earth. The kangaroo ends up a hero, reverred around the world.

The film is an adaptation of South Korean illustrator Cho Seok’s webcomic series, Moon You. The original comic ran from 2017 to 2019.

In the story, Yue thinks he is the sole surviving human, but he is unaware that some survived the asteroid shower and they are watching his every move through automatic livestreaming back to earth, which is unable to re-open communications with the moon.

Moon Man made an incredible $460 million at the box office.

    Kangaroos are the choice of a company symbol for packaging-materials trading company Kawawa Co., Ltd. from Nagareyama, Chiba Prefecture. Kawawa chose to use a kangaroo to symbolize their operations because it represents “the spirit of wrapping,” according to the company’s website.     Crafted Kangaroos and Tiger Shoes

    I was delighted to discover an arty ceramic kangaroo being sold at a store near the office, but the asking price put it out of my range despite my desire to possess anything marsupial. I also got to witness the upshot of a drunk driver who rammed into a Shinjuku restaurant, incurring the wrath of another bystander when I took a photo of the carnage (with no human casualties).
