Well Do Ya, Do Ya, Do Ya Wanna? Franz Ferdinand Tantalize Tokyo

Franz Ferdinand has just put on a rockin’ show in Tokyo as part of their whirlwind 2025 Japan Tour.

The band dazzled in their energy-packed concert before a packed crowd at the Tokyo Garden Theater on Thursday, which included me.

I’m not really a music aficionado, yet the band from Glasgow had even me singing and dancing along. I’ve seen the band several times now and they have never failed to put on an amazing show that leaves me in awe. I got a bit of a shock, because I have always regarded Franz Ferdinand as a “new” band, and the song that immediately comes to mind for me is Do You Want To. It came out 20 years ago and is stuck in my mind as it was used as backing music for an ad–for Sony Walkman. But they clearly have a younger fan base as I reckon I was at least 30 years older than the average attendee even though Franz Ferdinand has now been around for a hell of a long time.

Frontman Alex Kapranos really knows how to work a crowd, and that adds to the crisp, clean performances I have come to associate with the band.
