How Did An Aussie Bloke Build One of Japan’s Favourite Craft Breweries?

When Australian Sean Collett moved to Japan, he came to study—not to brew beer. Today, he and his Japanese wife Ayako run Two Rabbits Brewing in Shiga Prefecture, creating beers that blend Australian creativity with Japanese craftsmanship.

From Australia to Lake Biwa

Sean Collett first came to Japan as a student at Kyoto University.

While living in Japan, he discovered that the country’s growing craft beer scene offered an opportunity to combine two passions—brewing and cultural exchange.

Together with his wife Ayako, he founded Two Rabbits Brewing in neighbouring Shiga Prefecture.

Today, the brewery welcomes both local customers and visitors from around the world.

Becoming Part of the Community

Why Do Japanese Zoos Know So Much About Kangaroos?

Kangaroos are popular exhibits in Japanese zoos. But their success didn’t happen by accident.

Oh, no! What a Hugh-ge spelling mistake! Tokyo in Parramatta Video: Parramatta transformed into Tokyo

The Spirit of Australia, the flying…dinosaur? Australia’s fauna is unique, and that trend may even extend back hundreds of millions of years to the Cretaceous period, at least in terms of naming patterns. One of the few known endemic Australian dinosaurs was discovered only recently; 1996, to be precise. And it was promptly given a good old Aussie name of Qantassaurus…a moniker honoring something archetypally prehistoric — an airline. Qantas, in fact. Australia’s one-time national carrier. Australia’s Qantas, of course, is renowned for having the enviable record of being the only major carrier never to have had a fatal crash. Less well-known is the fact…
