　ストライン（オージー英語）で greenie というのは、自然環境を守ったり再生したりすることに強い信念を持つ人のことを指します。オーストラリアは比較的保守的な国なので、この語はやや侮蔑的に使われることもあります。また、環境問題への考え方に関係なく、社会正義への強い関心を持つ人を指す場合もあります。Greenie は今では世界中の英語で使われていますが、もともとはオーストラリア発祥の言葉です。

A greenie in Strine is someone with a strong conviction for protecting or restoring the natural environment. It can be used somewhat derogatorily, especially as Australia is a fairly conservative country. Greenie can also be used to describe someone with a strong sense of social justice, regardless of their views on the environment. Greenie is now used globally in English, but the term originated in Australia.
