Barneyは、普段男性の名前として使う場合がほとんどが、オージー英語では殴り合いという意味になる、、、何でかわからないけど。
ちなみに、barneyのほかにオージー英語ではblueが動詞として使えば同様な意味になる。

「Back of Bourke」って、いったいどこにある？
実は、地図にはありません。 オーストラリア人が “He lives out the back of Bourke.” と言ったら、本当に Bourke の裏側に住んでいるわけではありません。 Back of Bourke は、 「ものすごく遠い田舎」「とんでもない辺境」 を意味する慣用表現です。 ニューサウスウェールズ州の町 Bourke は、19世紀には開拓地の最前線でした。 そのため、「Bourke のさらに向こう側」と言えば、文明から遠く離れたアウトバックを意味するようになったのです。 現在でも、 “It’s out the back of Bourke.” と言えば、 「めちゃくちゃ遠い場所」 という意味で通じます。 Strine 表現 Back of Bourke 意味 非常に辺鄙な場所。 例文 Their farm is out the back of Bourke. 「彼らの農場はものすごく辺鄙な場所にある。」 日本とのつながり 日本なら「秘境」や「山奥」のような感覚ですが、オーストラリアではスケールが違います。 何百キロも町がないことも珍しくありません。 オーストラリアでは、「遠い」の基準そのものが、日本とはまったく違います。
豪キャブラリー： Ankle Biters
「足首を噛むやつ」は、ankle bitersの直訳だが、ankle bitersは決して人の足首を噛むわけではない。オージー英語では子供、特に小さい子供に対して使う表現だ。語源は、背が小さいので、何かを噛もうとしても人の足首ぐらいの高さしか噛めないということなのだ。

Bungは、オージー英語語彙の中では最も役に立つ言葉の一つかもしれない。壊れているものや使えなくなったものに対して「bung」という名詞として表現できる。そして、動詞としてbungを使うと「乱暴に投げる」や「いい加減に投げる」などもある。

Back To The Basics To Take The Strain Out Of Strine
Kangaeroo.com originally started as a bit of a joke site focused on Strine–the word to describe Australian English that is a play on the word “Australian” as pronounced in a broad Aussie accent. In the earliest years of the site, language played a central role in content. I created categories like やばいリンガル, which was loosely for words that were a little bit on the naughtier side, or yabai, in both English and Japanese. Then we had 豪cabulary that honed in on individual words that are distinctly Australian with the category being a portmanteau of go (豪), the kanji abbreviation used in Japanese for the now virtually archaic name for Australia…
