豪色濃い「EMPIRE」のMiss A in a Bubble豪姫がもしかして世界で最も柔軟な女性？

DSC_0060 (237x340)　今週末まで東京で絶賛演出中「EMPIRE」の豪色が何と言っても濃いだ。
　世界中にプロデューサーをはじめ、舞台裏のオーストラリア人が実に多い。
　そして、爆笑、アクション、えぐいなど面白さあふれているショーが好評だ。
　毎回ショーをキックオフするのがオーストラリア、クィーンズランド州育ちルチア・カービネス氏だ。同氏が、アクロバット・コントーションを専門家とし、EMPIREを盛り上げる役割も果たしてる。
　チャンスがあれば、同ショーを見るようにお勧めます。

    Boxing Dayって殴りあうカンガルーと関係ないの？

    　ボクシング・デーは１２月２６日にあり、クリスマスの翌日であり、オーストラリアをはじめ、イギリスも北欧数カ国では祝日となっているが、日本でもアメリカでもほとんど知られていない。 　ボクシング・デーがある国々の中でも「何でボクシングだろう？」と聞かれる。 　スポーツのボクシングかなと思えば、そうでもなく、実際にスポーツでも殴り合いでも全く関係ない。オーストラリアの象徴一つであるボクシング・カンガルー、残念。（ちなみに、ボクシングが実際にカンガルーにとって非常に残酷な行為であり、オーストラリア国内では今禁止されている。） 　実は、このボクシングの由来がボックス（箱）にある。 　元々クリスマスの翌日で、教会が貧しい人たちのために寄付を募ったクリスマスプレゼントのボックスを開ける日であったことから”Boxing Day”と呼ばれるそうだ。 　オーストラリアでは、真夏のボクシング・デーが商業的でもスポーツ的でもお祭りの日のようだ。 　書くとしては「ボクシング・デー・セール」でバーげーン・セールが盛り上がり、一年のうちの一日売り上げが最も多い日だ。 　そして、ネット上で「Cyberボクシング・デー・セール」も行い、消費税課税が免除される海外小売に抵抗するためオーストラリア国内小売業が開催するイベントだ。 　また、スポーツがすごい。夏季国民的なスポーツであるクリケットの最も重要な一日と言えているボクシング・デー・テスト・マッチが毎年メルボルンで（5日間の試合）初日が行なう。その日、9万から10万人の観客が観賞する場合がある。 　なお、シドニーからタスマニア島州都であるホバートの間のヨット・レースが開始日となるのもボクシング・デーだ。 さらにボクシング・デーについてはこちらへ。

    今では、オーストラリアの味が日本でひそかなブームが起こっている。 Australia is, in a way, flavor of the month of sorts in Japan at the moment. Amazon.co.jp ウィジェット 　それはチョコ・ビスケットTimTamのことだ。 That exalted status is thanks to the humble TimTam. 　今、日本のどこのコンビニーでも売られているし、多くの駅売店でも販売されている。 TimTam biscuits are now sold in just about all of Japan’s ubiquitous convenience stores and most station kiosks in the capital and surrounding prefectures. 　TimTamは、1963年からオーストラリアで製造し始まった。２つのビスケットの間にクリームが挟まれ、全体がチョコレートでカバーされる。発売されてすぐに人気となり、オーストラリアを象徴する味ともなった。 TimTam biscuits were first made in Australia in 1963.     　2009年大阪で日本が世界初の所在地となった「ラバー・ダック　プロジェクト」がいよいよオーストラリアまで展開した。 The infamous Rubber Duck Project that kicked off globally in Osaka in 2009 is finally making its mark in Australia. 　この高さ約10メートルのゴム製アヒル姿オブジェがオランダ人アーティストフロレンティン・ホフマン氏が制作した。 The 10-meter-tall rubber duck object is one of the famous items produced by renowned Dutch artist Florentijin Hofman. 　世界中に巨大キッチュなオブジェを設置することで有名となったホフマン氏が初めてこの「ラバー・ダック　プロジェクト」が2009年大阪で。以降、尾道市のほか世界各地で開催した。 Hofman is known for the gigantic kitsche items he has placed around the world, starting with the Rubber Duck Project he kicked off in Osaka four years ago before moving on to other places around the world, including Onomichi. 　シドニーで披露するのはシドニー・フェスティバルの一環として行う。 The Rubber Duck Project is in Sydney as part of the Sydney Festival. 　「ラバー・ダック　プロジェクト」が正式に開催するのは1月5日～23日の間、シドニー中心部にあるダーリング・ハーバーで披露される。 The huge duck will be in Darling Harbor in the center of the city in…

    　今月また来日するハリウッド大スタージョニー・デップ氏がちょこちょこ日本に来ることにも関わらず、オーストラリアとあまり縁がない。 Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp is a regular visitor to Japan, and is due to return again later this month, but he hasn’t shown his face so often in Australia. 　初回オーストラリアに訪問したのが１９８８年「２１ジャンプ・ストリート」出演する時の同番組PR訪問。 His first visit Down Under was way back in 1988, when he made a whirlwind trip to promote 21 Jump Street, the show he was then appearing in. 　それに伴った当時オーストラリアで最も人気だったテレビ番組Hey, Hey It’s Saturdayのセグメントに出た。同番組が１９９８年６月２５日に上映し、後で世界的に大スターとなるカイリー・ミノーグ氏妹ダニー・ミノーグ氏を一緒に出演する。 番組終了出国後、「アリス・イン・ワンダーランド」に纏わる訪問で２０１０年まで再びオーストラリアに行くことがなかった。 Depp appeared on the Red Faces segment of Hey, Hey It’s Saturday, then Australia’s most popular program.
