Every bone in my body is aching, but I am not giving up and am adamantly moving ahead with our current schedule, but boy am I feeling it. Part of the problem might be that I have too much free time on my hands, which allows me to realize how sore I feel. It’s hard to keep busy as I’m trying to look after the dog, the dinosaur and the domicile, all at the same time.
My body is feeling the pinch because Uyu and I have been walking about 15 km/day in the sapping heat, spreading the walks over the morning and late afternoon. It has been a magical experience that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Getting to know some of the delightful little laneways in the neighborhood has been an added pleasure.
But it has left me drained of energy, which has been compounded by the border collie dragging her toys up to me and dumping them at my feet in a gesture demanding further play at a time when I’m trying to recuperate.
Cameras have been the casualty of these exertions, too. I’ve sweated so much on our walks that it has seeped into TWO DSLR cameras and rendered them unworkable. That’s four cameras busted for the year, with either perspiration or water the major culprits. Considering we’ve taken a huge hit financially in 2024, the timing wasn’t really opportune.
Uyu gets to go to the beautician today. I won’t have a camera to properly capture her transformation, but it will still be good for her.
And then, that’s it. She gets picked up tomorrow and we don’t see her again for a while.
Her time with us has been bliss, despite the sore bodies, interrupted plans and stinky, dirty touches of canine cuteness.
Dino has been patience personified, aided by caring for an egg.
Next week will be some serious study and cycling for me, though. And a return to a schedule.
