More Climbing

Continuing on from yesterday, today was another day of climbing through the mountains on the beautiful Belladonna (a Cervelo R5 road bike).

Kangaeroo is too exhausted from the energy-sapping ride and a rush to get out to go into much detail.

But he is eternally grateful to cycling for giving these opportunities that have been unimaginable for most of his life, and to his wife for allowing him to pursue these dreams.

And, of course, to his bikes for carrying him there, and the cycling mates who help and encourage him.

    「巨人の星」がBig Wickets意味を理解補足に

  • Tour de Kagoshima-Kyoto Day 2: Hinagu to Ozu

    The tour’s drive into Kyushu moved northward on its second day of riding, and first when inclement weather came into play. Rain fell about halfway through the 72-km leg, drenching riders, but fortunately not resulting in any injuries or accidents. The trip was largely along the plains of Kyushu, following rivers and train tracks through to the industrial city of Yatsushiro. From there, it was a trip along similar terrain through the areas hit by the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes and onto Ozu. The tour next moves into the mountains with the long-awaited assault on Mount Aso. Brommie performed superbly, but will face bigger demands hitting the hills.

  • Tour de Kagoshima-Kyoto Day -1A: Tama Hills to Haneda

    Kangaeroo started a epic journey on the morning of September 29. Leaving the United States Air Force Tama Hills Recreation Reserve in Inagi, Kangaeroo hit the Tamagawa Cycling Road. The bike track follows the Tama River to its mouth at Tokyo Bay, leading directly to Haneda Airport. From Haneda, it was a several-hour wait before heading to Kagoshima on the wonderful Solaseed Air, which was cheap and efficient.     Paws and Reflect

    Possibly the most meaningful part of my Australian seeds experiment arose today when I transplanted my kangaroo paw seedlings. The great experiment, which I expected would result in me proving to have a green thumb and presenting all my gardening mates with exotic plants has proven only that I am all thumbs. I’ve killed nearly everything I planted, even the everlasting daises and golden everlastings that appeared to be growing so well. I bumped them off by putting them in a hothouse on a boiling hot day, then giving too much fertilizer to the plants that survived. A desert pea also looked promising, but I over-fertilized that, too.
