豪産肉輸出成長は、、、らくだ！

オーストラリアの野生動物と言えば、まずらくだ、、、と言い難いだろうが、実際に世界最大野生ラクダの数が最も多くの国が豪州であるだ。
　元々らくだはオーストラリアにいなかったが19世紀イギリス植民地時代からインドから持ってこれて野生化し、数十年たったら環境問題を起こした。今、オーストラリアで野生ラクダが約100万頭がいると予想されている。豪の野生ラクダ頭数が約９年毎で倍増することも予想されている。
　一方、ラクダの自然発祥地である中近東では、1960年代からラクダの数が急速に減り、ラクダ肉やミルクの重要が依然として高い。
　オーストラリア産ラクダが昔から競駱駝（？？？、、、要するにレース用）のラクダの輸出があったが、2009年から肉食用のラクダ輸出が産業化し、急成長している。今年、およそ6000頭のラクダをサウジ・アラビアとアラブ首長国連邦を中心に中近東諸国へ輸出する予定だ。
　オーストラリアでの野生ラクダの環境破壊が依然として継続が続くが、輸出により数が大幅に減る上に立派なビジネスチャンスを与えているので不幸中の幸いかもしれない。

    OECD最低火力発電所周辺にぴったりのBig Cigar

    　ビクトリア州東部チャーチルは、歴史50年も無い町が2005年に「ＯＥＣＤ最低火力発電所」とされたハーゼルウッド発電所のベッドタウンとして短い間でも（必要ない？）注目を浴びた。公害が心配な地域では、ぴったりな「Big Things」がある。巨大葉巻のBig Cigarだ。 　同町は故英国首相ウィンストン・チャーチル氏に名づけられて、同氏の象徴だった葉巻がBig Cigarのアイディアの生まれだ。最初、町内５ヶ所で巨大葉巻を立てる予定だったが、結局一つだけになった。 　同町は、約3年前放火によって始まった山火事が起こり、11人も死亡となり、火事が広域に渡って害を与えた。 煙の出方が間違っているBig Smoke 大きな地図で見る

Someone asks how they’re feeling. With a huge grin, the answer comes back: “I never saw the sun shine brighter.” Nobody is talking about the weather.   • 豪の不思議な巨大人物「Marree Man」が消滅恐れ

    オーストラリアのアウトバックにある身長約4キロメートルで世界最大な地上絵である原因不明なMarree Manが消滅する可能性が高く、助かるために公的資金が求められている。 　Marree Manの存在が謎の中の謎だ。 　1998年ある日、南オーストラリア州マリーという町にあるパブが「巨大地上絵が君たちの町の近くにあるよ」などと不思議なファックスを届いた。ジョークがいたずらかと思って無視したが偶然にその時期近くに飛行機が飛び、やっぱり本当の話だった。 　地上絵がブーメランを持って狩りをしているオーストラリア先住民であるアボリジニーの姿をし、書かれている線が約18キロメートルもあり、発見した当時約20～30センチの深さがあって所によって幅が約20メートルもあった。 　どのようにMarree Manがその辺に出来たかが未だに不明。ファックスの送り主が分からないし、発見当時米国星条旗が入った瓶とブランチ・ダビディアンというカルトに関する手紙があってファックス内容がメートル法より「マイルなど」旧式な言い方をしたからアメリカ人が関係すると思われているが燻製ニシンの虚偽とされている。現地の人々が2002年に亡くなったオーストラリア人アーティストが作ったではないかという人が多い。いずれにすよ、本当の話が分からない。 さらに問題化しているのが同地域が先住民が所有権を持ち、近くの一般立ち入り禁止ウーメラ試験場もあるので簡単に地域を変化などをすることができないけど、上空観察などによって発見からの15年間にちょっとした観光業が成り立っていた。 　だが、整備の難しさの上に時間経過によってMarree Manが構成する線が段々薄くなっている。マリー関係者が州政府に維持費などの助成金を申請して陳情しているが、今の所行動をとっていない。 　ある日いきなり現れてきたMarree Manが急速に砂漠の土の中に戻る恐れが非常に高くなっているので、ますますオーストラリアの不思議な事件一つが深い謎に囲まれそうだ。 Race on to Save Marree Man （英語） www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKEJgQeAdiQ Marree Man by David Batty, National Film Board of Canada

    豪で日本人アーティストのパイオニアだったSandiiはSunsetzから再びSunrise

    Sandii, responsible for one of Japan’s first (and extremely rare) marks on Australian popular music charts back in the early 1980s, remains active in the Japanese entertainment world, performing live in Tokyo on Aug. 5 during the Ocean Peoples event at Yoyogi Park1980年代前半にオーストラリアでヒットした非常に稀な日本人パフォーマーとしてサンディーは、今でも活躍中であり、8月5日東京代々木公園にて「Ocean Peoples」に関連したライブを行なった。While fronting Sandii and the Sunsetz back in the 1980s, Sandii scored a #11 hit on the Australian pop music charts in 1984 with Sticky Music.
