オージー英語では、物事を調べてみたり、見てみたりするような事を、直訳すると「思っている疑問を検証しよう」という堅苦しい表現を使う。「大らかなオージーにちょっと似合わないだろう」と思う人が少なくないと思う。その通り。Check out my suspicions、要は「思っている疑問を検証しよう」から省略し、砕けた言い方に変わりsuss outという形になった訳だ。典型的なオージー英語である。
