4. オーストラリア最大恐竜がエロマンガに 　オーストラリアの最大恐竜がエロマンガにあった。 　本当。 　下品なことを考えってんじゃねぇよ！エロマンガはオーストラリア先住民の言葉で「風がよく吹く平野」という意味だそう。 　エロマンガは、北部クイーンズランド州にある小さな村です。石油とオパール鉱業が中心となっている人口約40人の村である。 　1990年代までエロマンガ有名なことはオーストラリア内で海から最も遠く離れている町ということだった。（今でもそうと主張しているが、そうじゃないという人もいます。） 　いずれにせよ、クイーンズランド州都ブリスベーンから約1,000キロ西の方に置かれている。 　1994年にチャリ乗りの少年が化石を見つけて、以降次から次へ恐竜の化石が発見された。 　2007年にみつかった化石が今までオーストラリアで最も大きいな恐竜のものだった。 　その恐竜がティタノザウルス類の一種であり、エロマンんがの恐竜がクーパーと名付けられた。 　しかし、名前は名前なので、当然にエロマンガという村が日本に注目を浴びた。 　数多くの日本のエロ漫画や普通の漫画もエロマンガの話が出ています。 　その中は「ニニンがシノブ伝」、「サムライフラメンコ」というまでもなくオーストラリアで児童ポルノとして禁じられている「エロマンガ先生」がある。 　今、エロマンガに恐竜研究が励んでいる。 　2017年に開館したエロマンガ自然博物館が運営しているが、コロナ禍で苦しんでいるだろう。 　それでも、間違いなくエロマンガがオーストラリア恐竜研究・跡地の最前線にひとつということはまちがいない。 　これからもエロマンガにますます期待できるだろう。 　 　 　...
5. 「強盗殺人」なのにBig Thingsを含めて豪がNed Kellyを称える理由は何だ？ 　今日の「Big Things」はオージー文化に深く関わるものと関するが、その背景が分からないと理解しがたいかもしれない。 　ビクトリア州グレンロアンにある高さ６メートル幅２メートルのBig Ned Kellyは、オーストラリアで英雄とされているネッド・ケリーを称える。 　「英雄だったら、すごい人だろう？」と思うだろう。 　が、、、 　、、、実は、強盗殺意人だ。 　ま、石川五右衛門やロビン・フッドのように、裕福な人や権力を乱用する人に対して盗難をし、得たものを庶民に配ったりするような犯人だったらなんとなく分かるような気がするね。 　しかし、、、そのような強盗者でもなかった。盗んだ物を自分・自分のギャングしか使わなかったし、殺した人が警官及びかつて親しいだった友人だった。 　じゃ、政治的な理由でそのようになって人々のために戦った人物だったのか？ 　それも、ない。イギリス植民地時代だったので、抑圧されたアイルランド系の人だったに違いないが生きている間に特に政治的な動きをしたことはそれほどなかった。後になったそのように描こうとした人が時々出てくるが、本当は恐らく違う。 　なんだかんだ言ってもネッド・ケリーはただの強盗殺人としか言うようがない。 　なので、何でオーストラリアでそんなに尊敬されている？全国で英雄扱い、史上初長編映画の主体となり、以降ミック・ジャガーやヒース・レジャーなどがネッド・ケリー役を演じたり、実物が警官と正念場があったグレンロアンを中心に活動した地域が観光地となったり、研究の主体となったりしてネッド・ケリー神話が壮大となって、どんなオーストラリア人でもよく知っている。 　でも、ただの強盗殺人だったら何でそんなに尊敬されているだろう？ 　不思議でしょうがないよね。 ネッド・ケリーが自作鎧で警察と銃撃戦を行い、その末で捕まえられ死刑となった。鎧が確かに格好良かったので、それだけで人々を魅了したかもしれない？ それとも、多分、正解は豪州のヨーロッパ系歴史にあるかな？ 　そもそもイギリス人がオーストラリアを植民地化した理由は流刑地になるためだった。 　ヨーロッパ系住民のほとんどが囚人だったので、反権威主義の人が比較的に多かったかもしれない。犯罪に対しての見方がじゃっかんゆるいところがあったかもしれない？ 　未だにまだその傾向が豪社会で見える部分がある。 　豪史上最多数ノンフィクション本の作家は自称ヒットマンであるマーク・チョッパ・リードが執筆した。そして、今で豪テレビで実際に起きた犯罪や実際に起こした実在する犯人を題材とした圧倒的に支持されて最も人気番組がアンダベリー・シリーズである。 　こういう豪社会の潜在的な反権威主義がネッド・ケリー神話の基礎となっているかもしれない。本当の理由は何か分からないが、奥が深いに違いない。 　ちなみに、グレンロアンにはもう一つの「Big Things」がある。これはBig Cherryだ。それについてまた後日掲載する。 　そして、もう一つのネッド・ケリー「Big Things」もある。それがクィーンズランド州にある。ネッド・ケリー自身が同州へ行くことはなかったのでなぜそこに作られたが、全国的の人気の象徴とも言えるだろう。その「Big Things」が同州のメリーバラという町にある。 ヒース・レジャーが主人公となった「ネッド・ケリー」2003年 ミック・ジャガーが主人公となった「ネッド・ケリー」1970年 The Story of the Kelly Gang 大きな地図で見る...

37. オーストラリアでの花見をお楽しむのが９月！ 　南半球にあるオーストラリアの季節は日本と正反対であり、桜が咲いて「お花見」するのが4月頃でなく、９月辺りにやるんだ。 　オーストラリアで「お花見」という習慣は元々ない。 　だが、各地でさくらんぼが栽培され、チェリー農園が多いし、桜を見ないわけでもない。 　そこで、在豪日本人コミュニティや親日家を中心に南半球の春にあたる９月にお花見をやることがあるだそうだ。 　今年はまさにそうだ。 　９月２３日（日）にはメルボルンからおよそ４０キロ東の方へオリンダという町がある。そこに多数の桜の木もある「豪国立ツツジガーデン」がある。毎年、そこで「お花見」するそうだ。日本と違って、お祭りモードになったり、お騒ぎすることがないが、本当にお花を楽しむ。また、オーストラリアでは暴れる人が多いため多くの公の場が禁酒しているので、このガーデンもそうだから、お酒なしの花見となる。 　日本のお花見と同じように出来ると思えば、がっかりするだろうが、その代わりに周辺にたくさん魅了的なものがある。 　ガーデン自体がかなり美しい。 　ガーデンのとなりにだれでもプレーできるゴルフ場があるが、一方神秘的なウィリアム・リッケッツ・サンクチュアリーがある。そこで綺麗な森の中に自然と一緒になっている彫刻が多数ある。山の上にもあるので、景色が良くて、メルボルン市内全部丸見える。 　それでも足りなければ、ワイン産地であるヤラ・バレーも車で３０分以内にいける。 Hanami Cherry Blossom Festival...

Big PeopleがなければBig Thingsが揃わない 　オーストラリア各地にある「Big Things」というB級観光名所の正確な数が不明だが百数十件から200件件以上の間は間違いなくある。 　ほとんどの「Big Things」が動物や設置されている地域の名産物などを称えるが、中には「人間」の姿をしているものもある。 　彫刻など芸術性を重視するではなく、ほかの「Big Things」と同じようにコミカルな印象があり、キッシュが中心となっている。 　また、オーストラリアの歴史も「Big Things」そのもの歴史も人間像に見える。 　たとえば、南オーストラリア州都であるアデレードの一角であるメンディンディーという町にBig Scotsman（巨大スコットランド人）がある。 　これは1963年に作られ、事実上オーストラリアの「Big Things」の最も早く作られたものだった（ニューサウスウェールズ州にあるBig Bananaが自称＜初めて＞とも言うだけど、、、）。 　初めてとは言えはっきり言ってイメージとしてオーストラリアと関係ない。 　同じく、「何で？」と思わせる「Big Things」がニューサウスウェールズ州にオーストラリア固有種のナッツであるマカダミアテーマパークにある。 　そもそも変なのは同遊園地のテーマがヨーロッパ中世風のお城だ。 　そして、それらしくかもしれないがオーストラリアらしくないのがお城の真ん前にある医大騎士であるBig Knightだ。 　しかし、そのほか人間像の「Big Things」が国の歴史ともう少しつながりがある。 　 豪経済を昔も今も深い関わり合いがある鉱業を称えるオブジェがみつもある。 　南オーストアリア州カプンダにある鉱山労働者像Map the Minerがある。 　同町がオーストラリア初銅鉱業があり、それを称えるために1988年のオーストラリア建国200周年記念を祝う行事一つとして作られた。 　しかし、2006年にあるティーンエージャーが同像を目立つように軽油をかけ火をつけてから写真撮ろうとしたが、ボヤーとなってMap the Minerを全焼した。 幸いに保険がかけられたため作り直すことができた。 （ちなみに、余談だが、このオブジェがあるカプンダはオーストラリアで最も幽霊が多い町とされているらしい。） 　金が同じような鉱業労働者像の共通点である。 　まず、19世紀半ば頃ニューサウスウェールズ州バスハーストという所に金が見つけられ「ゴールド・ラッシュ」となった。 　今ではバスハースト中心街に入る道路を通ると迎えてくれるのはBig Gold Pannerである。 　砂金を探している男の「Big Things」だ。 　オーストラリアの産業化に重要な役割を果たしたゴールド・ラッシュのキックオフがバスハーストにあったかもしれないが、最も大きかったゴールド・ラッシュがほぼ同じ時期にビクトリア州バララットというところに起きた。 さらに鉱業関係の「Big Things」が以前に掲載したクイーンズランド州ザ・ジェムフィールズにある数箇所も忘れてはいけない。 　またオージーらしく鉱業並みに同国の経済に貢献した農業（厳密に言えば農家だけど、、、）を称える南オーストラリア州ウッディナにあるBig Australian Farmerだ。 　しかいし、このオブジェは他の「Big Things」と違ってあまりコミカルやキッシュな面がなく最も真面目な物だ。 　考えRooの個人的な見解だがこれが「Big Things」より彫刻だ。 　また真面目だけどもっと「Big...

84. 豪州の国家象徴を食っちゃう！ 　オーストラリアと言えば多くの人がまず思うのは特有の動物。最も有目名有袋類であるカンガルーが国の象徴であることがその証といってもいいけど、その象徴も食べられるのはしっていたか？ 　そうなんのよ。カンガルー肉消費が年々増加している。 　オーストラリアでは、1970年代まで 一部を除いて、 人間がカンガルー肉を食べることが禁じられていた。しかし、カンガルーの繁殖などに有利な羊牧場の広がりによってカンガルーの数が大幅に増え農家にとって邪魔な存在となって大幅の殺処分が許されるようになった。結果として、大量な処分されたカンガルーが使われなかった。 　そこで、タンパク質が高く、脂肪分が少ないカンガルー肉を健康面から注目されるようになり、食品使用が許可された。 　昨年、全国でカンガルー肉が前年比63%増加で週18万トン以上肉食用の売り上げを記録した。オーストラリア全国でだんだんカンガルー肉の人気が広がっている。 　日本でも 、ミートガイにてカンガルー肉を販売している。 　そこでオーストラリアの象徴を国民食であるミートパイに食べてみませんか？ 　カンガルーパイのレシピが以下の通りです。 材料 バッター30ｇ カンガルー肉500ｇサイクロベーコン2枚、みじん切り小麦粉 大さじ2 玉ねぎ1個、みじん切り にんじん2個、みじん切りセロリ-２本、みじん切り マッシュルーム、みじん切り125g グリーンピーズ50gビーフストック 250ml トマトペースト大さじ１市販パイ生地4枚溶き卵の黄身1個 調理法 中身：フライパンの中にバッターを温めて、カンガルー肉とベーコンを焼いた、約2分間かけ混ぜる。小麦粉を加えて、固まりかけるまで２－３分焼く。玉ねぎ、にんじん、セロリ、マッシュルーム、グリーンピーズ、ビーフストックとトマトペーストを加える。火を弱めてよくかけ混ぜながら約1時間煮る。味に調味料を加える。 生地：12.5㎝パイ型に油を付けて、各パイ生地から直径14㎝丸と直径12.5㎝丸をひとつずつ切り取る。大きめの生地の丸をパイ型に入れてベースとする。パイ型からあふれている生地を切り取る。各パイ型にパイ中身を入れる。 卵の黄身と水１小さじに混ぜ、ブラッシュを使ってパイ生地の周縁に付ける。小さい方の生地の丸を蓋になるようにパイ型の上に付ける。外さないように、端を押し込む。蒸気出来るようにパイの蓋に小さいな穴をいくつか空く。カバーをかけて、約20分間冷やす。. オーブンを200度に予熱する。卵の黄身と水で作られている液体を 生地にブラッシュで付ける。10分間オーブンで焼く。オーブンの温度を180度に下がり、ふくらんで黄金色になるまで、さらに20分焼く。 オーストラリアの象徴であるカンガルーを国民食であるパイという形をもちろん食べてもいいが、東京で本格的なオージーパイを食べたいなら世田谷区にあるPunk Doilyが絶妙な味を出し、絶対にお勧めします。...
