Marvelous Marunouchi

I’m loving life enormously at the moment, and a workplace in Marunouchi is helping in that.

Marunouchi is the literal heart of Tokyo, being the closest district to the Imperial Palace, which is the reason why the city is Japan’s capital.

It’s a delight rolling up to the office and feeling the centuries-long history of the area and adjacent Nihonbashi seeping in.

My first day in Tokyo involved sitting down outside Tokyo Station, located in Marunochi, people watching while I waited to be collected.

I love being able to look down from my workplace and see that spot, now a significantly different place than it was when I got here decades ago.

Around that time, Japan was around the end of an era as Emperor Hirohito, who reigned as Japan went from world power to world pariah and back to power player again, would soon pass away.

It was such an interesting time, and going back there brings back many memories for me.

Other memories are being still being made.

Not much is happening in terms of things to write about.

I really love my job, especially because I get to work with such wonderful, supportive people.

I got to ride into work one day, too.

We were supposed to get a diamond Fuji visible from the office, but it didn’t eventuate.

And duties were uneventful, too, with a new computer implemented smoothly.

My highlight was getting to go to lunch with my colleagues and getting to know them a little better.

All-in-all it was a quiet and uneventful week.
